The Zeenat Aman tragedy (covered in my blog entry dated July 26, 2007) brings me to what spiritual teacher Eckhart Tolle talks of, when he talks of the suppression of the female essence by the male essence on this planet, an event he calls the root of human insanity(or ego). The imbalanced yin-yang on this planet, so to say. The fundamental rip in the fabric of human existence. The 'Original Sin'.
He writes, in his book 'A New Earth':
"Suppression of the feminine principle over the last few thousand years has enabled the ego to gain absolute supremacy in the collective human psyche. Although women have egos, of course, the ego can take root and grow more easily in the male form than in the female. If the balance between male and female energies had not been destroyed on this planet, the ego's growth [hence human insanity's growth] would have been greatly curtailed. We would not have declared war on nature, and we would not be so completely alienated from ourselves."
Jennifer Jones, psychotherapist/motivator/guru, in her articles on women's issues, writes:
"For the past five thousand years, a woman's value depended solely on the benefit she could provide men, either as a pleasurable sexual object or as a vehicle for procreation and servitude."
The complete content of these strongly written articles can be found at:
The sexual value of women.
A poem written by someone I know expresses the sentiments of women on this issue:
The mother
raped and plundered by humans
cries out in agony
screams in anguish
finds no mercy
only derisive laughter and loneliness
she breaks, shatters
gets destroyed
floats in the netherworld for eons
rises
destroys her tormentors
but
the inertia of her torment
goes round in her head
as mankind goes about its evil ways...
And here's an interesting song by 'Tears for Fears'..
A song named 'Woman in Chains' by
'Tears for Fears'.
Lyrics:
You better love loving and you better behave
You better love loving and you better behave
Woman in chains
Woman in chains
Calls her man the great white hope
Says shes fine, she'll always cope
Woman in chains
Woman in chains
Well I feel lying and waiting is a poor man's deal
And I feel hopelessly weighed down by your eyes of steel
Its a world gone crazy
Keeps woman in chains
Trades her soul as skin and bones
Sells the only thing she owns
Woman in chains
Woman in chains
Men of stone
Men of stone
Well I feel deep in your heart there are wounds time can't heal
And I feel somebody somewhere is trying to breathe
Well you know what I mean
Its a world gone crazy
Keeps woman in chains
Its under my skin but out of my hands
I'll tear it apart but I wont understand
I will not accept the greatness of man
Its a world gone crazy
Keeps woman in chains
So free her
So free her
So free her
So free her
'I will not accept the greatness of man'...Well said,
'Tears for Fears'.
