Friendship, Pretense, Revenge

A, B & C are three friends. When A & B are together, they make fun of C. When A & C are together, they make fun of B. When B & C are together, they make fun of A.

I am not talking about fun as in light hearted play. I am talking about derision & obnoxious comments. This pattern of behaviour is a de facto standard in the human world.

People do this all the time, and then say things like 'there are no real friends in this world'....'there is no love in this world'....'everybody misunderstands me'....'I am an innocent person'.

Such talk is either delusion, or hypocrisy, or a mixture of the two. (i.e. the sign of a nutcase!) It is a classic example of what is called 'elephant talk', like King Crimson sings:

Lyrics:

Talk, it's only talk
Arguments, agreements, advice, answers,
Articulate announcements
It's only talk

Talk, it's only talk
Babble, burble, banter, bicker bicker bicker
Brouhaha, boulderdash, ballyhoo
It's only talk

Comments, cliches, commentary, controversy
Chatter, chit-chat, chit-chat, chit-chat,
Conversation, contradiction, criticism
Cheap talk

Talk, talk, it's only talk
Debates, discussions
Dialogue, dualogue, diatribe,
Dissention, declamation
Double talk, double talk

Talk, talk, it's all talk
Too much talk
Talk that trash

Most people I have met see other people through the eyes of HATRED. It is strange to see these people complain that the world is bad & nasty.

Artificial people deride other people by calling them fake, artificial and pretentious. They label others as materialistic*, although they themselves live superficial lives that revolve around money only.

*By materialistic I mean someone who values material wealth over human relationships. Otherwise there is nothing wrong in valuing and enjoying wealth--if it's not at the cost of anyone's health and wellbeing.

The average human's mind is full of trash, noise..total nonsense! It is a desert, a barren land; it has no centre, it is not balanced. It may produce fancy words and sound articulate...but those words don't have any meaning, if one looks at the big picture of his/her life...which spells just one word...'HATRED'.

Here is the King Crimson Video...'Elephant Talk'.

Pretentious Friends And Revenge:

Pretentious talk used to infuriate me. It used to generate in me an insane kind of violent anger that is very very dangerous. In some cases I lost control and some people got damaged in the process...due to their own hypocrisy...I don't regret it. Not really. They deserved what they got.

completely true...i couldn't agree more...but let me tell you that the same thoughts have been haunting me for a while not only in what concerns the others but also in what concerns my own behaviour...and i have a question:what can one that sees that kind of attitude in him/her or in others do if one has only thoughts within reach to correct it?...there's too little room for leaving one's thoughts, for going beyond them...maybe there's no room at all for that...what do you think?
(thought=the way our mind reacts in the hostile emotional world for keeping itself together)

thanks

Hi,

Interesting analysis. It is not easy to step beyond thoughts, at many points in life. Once gets overcome by anger, fury, and says/does things that one regrets later.

At the same time, the mind needs to do this, to keep itself together, like you say. Very correct.

But the very fact that one is aware of all this means one is already going beyond such thoughts.

And all this can be avoided to a large extent. By not mixing with people more than what is necessary.

Everybody works, everybody is busy...but...I feel a person who TRULY focuses more on his/her work, than on people, will be able to lead a healthy, balanced life.

Apart from focusing on work, regular exercise helps one deal with the hostile emotional world, of self and others.

Exercise and work calm the mind. The situations that used to hurt, don't hurt that much anymore.

Eckhart Tolle says one should not worry about stepping beyond thoughts, but focus on the 'gap between thoughts'.

The silent space between thoughts IS the door that takes one beyond his/her thoughts, although this may not sound very convincing at first glance.

While working, you may notice that you are not paying attention to your thoughts, but are focused on the task at hand. This state of mind is called 'presence'.

Presence automatically takes you beyond thought.

The more you live in presence, the more the personality evolves, the more you go beyond old thought patterns.

Deep breathing, on a regular basis, will also do WONDERS, in making a person feel healthier and stronger.

Only recently, a very critical medical emergency, a heart attack, was controlled, just through DEEP BREATHING.

If deep breathing can do so much for the human body, you can imagine what fantastic benefits deep breathing can provide to the human mind.

regards,
Vikram
